Insurers - your times of just adding in legal cover by default are over

Free Motor Legal were pleased to see the reports today that the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has now announced a crack-down on "add on" policies.

Reports say they are often poor value, the customer does not understand the product and all too often, does not even realise they have an add-on product as the sneaky insurer had added the extra trimmings as a default. This has related to all sorts of insurance products such as gap cover, additional cover for mobile phones or holidays etc.

Free Motor Legal is particularly interested to bring to the attention of the public that this practice has also happened with Motor Legal Expenses Insurance. All too often there have been cases of "legal cover" just being added in as standard (at extra cost to the customer of course!) leaving the customer with a product they either did not want or did not understand they had been provided with.

There is an alternative to this, which is to join www.freemotorlegal.co.uk it is free of charge, no need to renew each year as your membership just continues month on month. That way you can insist your motor insurer does not add on legal cover, knowing that if you have an accident that is not your fault, you have already signed up to a comprehensive accident management service which will take care of your vehicle and provide a specialist lawyer to claim back any costs or expenses you have incurred, without any charge to you.

The insurance industry will simply keep selling people these policies because people will keep paying for them (knowingly or not).

Spread the word to everyone you know as it does not have to be like this. You do not need to pay for "legal cover".
